Yvonne Owuor

Kenya

Author of the well-received ‘Dust’ (2014), and ‘The Dragonfly Sea (2019), Kenya-born Yvonne’s short story, ‘The Weight of Whispers’, earned her the Caine Prize for African Writing in 2003. Her stories and essays can be found in different literary magazines, including Granta. Her ‘The Knife Grinder’s Tale’ was adapted as a short film in 2007 by US filmmaker R L Hooker. She is active in the environmental sector, has worked as a technologist, curriculum developer, and event curator/producer. She is part of a Nairobi-based collective experimenting with a new model for book, film and series story production inspired by Africa and its relationships.
