Sumana Ramanan is an independent journalist whose work has appeared in leading publications. She has been an editor with Economic & Political Weekly, Hindustan Times and Scroll.inBefore that, she was a correspondent for several years, and has reported from Germany and Israel-Palestine. She is a student of Hindustani vocal music. She is working on her first book, a work of narrative non-fiction.
