Shanta Gokhale is a writer, translator, theatre critic, playwright, film script writer and cultural columnist based in Mumbai. She has written three novels in Marathi. Her books in English include Playwright at the Centre, Satyadev Dubey, The Theatre of Veenapani Chawla, The Scenes We Made, One Foot on the Ground and Shivaji Park. She has been a recipient of the Tata Literature Live! Lifetime Achievement Award. She has also received the Sangeet Natak Akademi, the Balkrishna Jambhekar Translation, and the Sahitya Akademi Translation Awards.
