Saumya Roy is the author of Mountain Tales: Love and Loss in the Municipality of Castway Belongings, a non-fiction book that follows the lives of waste pickers who live at Mumbai’s Deonar dumping grounds. The book was listed among the best books of 2021 by National Public Radio (USA), theprint.in, Telegraph India, GQ India among others. She is also a co-founder of Vandana Foundation and has taught at UC Berkeley and Mumbai University.
