Kamala Ganesh is an eminent sociologist based in Mumbai. She has researched and published on Gender, Caste and Kinship, and on History, Culture and Identity. Formerly Professor & Head of Sociology at Mumbai University, she has held elected positions in the Asiatic Society of Mumbai, Indian Sociological Society, Indian Association of Women’s Studies and Commission on Women in the International Union for Anthropological and Ethnological Sciences. Her book Boundary Walls: Caste and Women in a Tamil Community won the Silver medal of the Asiatic Society of Bombay.
