Ian Cardozo

Author, India

Major General Ian Cardozo was commissioned in the 5th Gorkha Rifles (FF) in June 1958 and has fought in the wars of 1962, 1965 and 1971. Wounded in the battle of Sylhet, he is the first war-disabled officer to be approved for command of an infantry battalion and brigade. He subsequently commanded an Infantry Division and retired as Chief of Staff of a corps. Post retirement he was appointed by the Government of India as the Chairman of the Rehabilitation Council of India. He is also an acclaimed author.
