Govindraj Ethiraj was a business journalist in leading TV channels and print media for over 25 years. He is a media executive and entrepreneur whose public interest journalism ventures such as IndiaSpend use data to report on areas like health, education and climate as well as safeguard the transparency and accuracy of news.
Most recently, he founded BOOM – an independent journalism initiative that counters misinformation and explains issues with the objective of making the internet safer – and FactChecker which monitors media and public figures for accuracy.
Govindraj was named a 2018 McNulty Prize Laureate in recognition for his leadership with BOOM, IndiaSpend, and FactChecker.
