Deepak B. Mehta is a literary critic, researcher, translator and freelance journalist. He has more than 50 publications to his credit. He has received awards from the Maharashtra State Gujarati Sahitya Akademi and the Gujarat Vishwakosh Trust. He currently writes a weekly column in Gujarati Mid-Day. His special interest is in the culture, language, and literature of the 19th Century Bombay Presidency (present-day Maharashtra and Gujarat), on which he has written six books, one of which has been published by the Sahitya Akademi, New Delhi.
