Public protests can become a form of political theatre. Conversely, theatre can also become a form of political protest. A discussion with the author of a powerful novel that uses an Arabic production of Shakespeare’s Hamlet on the West Bank to explore personal relationships and political resistance, against the backdrop of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
