Peace is not simply the absence of conflict; it is an environment which allows individuals and societies to flourish and grow.

Spreading the message of peace is no easy task and to honour those who have made it their life’s work The Peace Avenue of Rotary District 3141 Mumbai and Tata Literature Live! have come together to present the Rotary Writing For Peace Award.

The inaugural recipient of this award is Ms Nandita Haskar, a highly-respected Human Rights lawyer, activist, feminist and prolific writer. She has worked extensively with disempowered communities ensuring them access to justice and dignity, her work has set precedents in human rights and humanitarian law and she has developed the country’s first human rights courses.

Nandita Haksar will be in conversation with Naresh Fernandes on her body of work documenting human rights challenges in India.
