RAIN IN FAMINE

  • Sunday, 29th Oct
  • 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm IST
  • NCPA, Little Theatre

Rain in Famine is a spoken word performance by members of the transgender community of Mumbai. Drawing on life experiences both lived and witnessed, the poems absorb the reader with their lucid language and visual metaphors. They touch upon universal themes of sustenance, strength and overcoming the odds, while exuding inspiration, hope and beauty.

The poets hail from different regions of India and follow diverse professions, ranging from accountancy to healthcare and some of whom are performers in folk and traditional forms like Lavani and Jhanki. About 10 poets will present their journeys through the spoken word where they give voice and presentation to their own writing.

This show is co-developed and presented by Word Travels (Australia) and The Pomegranate Workshop (Mumbai), featuring spoken word poets from the TWEET Foundation.
