Booker prize winning author Howard Jacobson describes himself as “a Jewish Jane Austin”. While his many novels mainly address the daily situations and concerns of British Jewish characters, they reflect the wider human condition and have been related to by a vast range of readers. He will be in conversation with Karthika VK about the social context, universality and sophisticated comic flair of his work, exemplified in his latest novel “Live A Little”, in which his gentle and elegant treatment of cultural memory and the distinctive atmosphere of time and place is blended with his trademark insight and humourous touch.
