The literary tradition of most languages hold canonical books and writers who, for a variety of reasons, have acquired a special place in the imagination of authors that followed, and of readers down the ages. Three writers talk about the great books in Kannada literature that strongly influenced future generations and those that personally inspired them.
Uma Rama Rao has doctorates in both engineering and Kannada literature. A former professor of engineering, she is now a literary translator from English and Marathi to Kannada.
Srinath Perur is a translator from Kannada to English and a reputed writer on science and travel.
