Two eminent Gujarati literateurs will discuss key works of fiction from the canon of their mother tongue, thereby introducing those who mainly read in English to a new world of literature. Their journey will cover over 150 years of prime writing, from the mid-19th century to now. Spanning the mid-19th to early 20th century, they will talk about classics written by Govardhanram Tripathi, Kanaiyalal Munshi, Pannalal Patel and Ramanlal Desai, some of which, such as Tripathi’s epic four-volume Saraswatichandra have been translated into English. The conversation regarding the mid-20th century to the present, will feature illustrious authors like Chandrakant Bakshi, Chunilal Madiya, Dhiruben Patel, Madhu Rai and Varsha Adalja.
