Bombay, Mumbai. The eternal city of dreams for all of India, where people throng from every nook and cranny of the country and get thrust into a melting pot of communities and connections unimaginable anywhere else. This results in a giddy confluence of languages, dialects, foods, religions, sects, sub-communities, sub-cultures, individualities, diversities, idiosyncrasies, creating millions of diverse life stories – funny, happy, sad, bizarre, unique, even unbelievable. Traditional social barriers are rapidly dismantled, unlikely friendships develop, and weird encounters happen as people here are bound by similar struggles, aspirations, and resigned humour, while clinging onto the dizzying ferris wheel that is Mumbai.

Pronoti Datta’s  book Half Blood, is also part of the longlist for Fiction First Book of the Year at the Tata Literature Live! 2022 Awards
